Palmares

Brasil, 1644 A.D 

For over 40 years, the Quilombo of Palmares, a union of over 20 settlements(Quilombos), created by escaped Slaves, has survived aggainst Portuguese and Durch colonial forces.

Formed by members of several former african tribes and former indigenous slaves, the Palamres was a Confederacy of mornaquies, where the leaders were either former african kings and chiefs, or just the most distinguished member of the Quilombo. All together, the Palmares population was close to 20 thousand, making it, effectively, a small nation in Brasil, rigth inside of the current state of Alagoas.

Desiring to improve their teneous hold over their settlements in Brasil, the Dutch colonial goverment decides to strike with great force the rebeilous Quilombos and sends Rodolfo Baro to destroy the Palmares.
